PROBLEM

Gap between mind and money

Who hasn’t fantasized about quitting their job at least once (or a dozen times)? But for most of us, walking away isn't an option unless we’ve already lined up the next gig. Imagine your mental or physical health forces you to stop now. No backup plan. No savings. Just stress, fear, and sweaty palms. That’s a trap called ‘the paycheck treadmill’. We keep running, even when we need a break. Here is a simple advice: “Save for emergencies.” But in reality, between bills, rent, and life—it feels nearly impossible. But is it really?

SOLUTION

What do you really want?

User research and evidences show that people often struggle not with saving, but with setting the right goal. When a goal is clear and personally meaningful, motivation increases, habits form, and saving becomes actionable. Most wellness apps ignore the role of money in mental well-being. Finance apps, on the other hand, rarely consider the mindset behind saving. I Quit! Fund Game is a playful yet purposeful tool to help people build their own safety net and create harmony between mind and money, one small step at a time. Because freedom shouldn’t feel like a fantasy.

Project Goal

A dedicated emergency fund for when it’s time to walk away, we decided to call it the "Quit Fund". This app will listen, guide, and lead the users to quit with clarity and readiness.

Philosophy

This isn’t just about quitting your 9-5 job. It’s about discovering your talents, setting the right goal, and slowly, faithfully living them, one small choice at a time.

Autonomy on your own term

Gain autonomy and take charge of your finances. Use an intuitive dashboard customized just for you to track spending, visualize patterns, and set realistic, achievable goals.

Financial resilience & peace of mind

Saving for an emergency fund is like hitting the gym: it's tough, often overlooked, and easily broken. The goal is to shift mindset into habit, turning ideas into daily action. Strong financial habits create stability, and an emergency fund unlocks new possibilities.

Research & Insights

After careful consideration, we conducted interviews with 6 people from different backgrounds and age groups.

Quotes from the interview

"I don't think I really know what I'm good at or what I like."

"I want to do something more flexible and meaningful."

“We need to understand why we want to quit.”

“We need to understand why we want to quit.”

"When I had burnout, my thoughts didn’t even reach the point of saving extra money."

3 kinds of pain points

Career & Identity

Career & Identity

Lack of clarity about career direction

The Golden Handcuffs: stuck in unfulfilling or demanding jobs

Low confidence in transferable skills or talents

Finance

Finance

Difficulty saving consistently

No clear system for a "Quit Fund"

Other financial priorities take precedence

Low financial literacy or tool access

Emotion & Psychology

Emotion & Psychology

High stress, low energy from daily work

Fear of instability and uncertainty

Internal conflict between security and fulfilment

Guilt and regret from impulsive spending

Do you know how much quit fund you have right now?

Empathize & Define

Empathizing with users and defining their financial and personal goal-related challenges was a deeply rewarding process. I gained insight into the diverse struggles people face and how they cope with them, or sometimes don’t. I can't wait to move into the ideation phase and interpret those insights into solutions.

Conflict: My current job provides stability, but it's taking a toll on my well-being, family time, and personal fulfilment.

Pragmatism: My decisions affect more than just myself; family obligations and living costs are the priority. Before I can even dream of quitting, I need a solid financial cushion.

Uncertainty: I feel a bit lost. I need to understand myself better before I can make a major life change. What are my skills? What is my passion? What do I want to focus on?

Conceptual & Financial Barriers: The idea of a fund specifically for quitting is new. It feels like something for entrepreneurs, not for me. My finances feel too tight or disorganised to start something like that now.

Motivation: A side project or a new skill could be the path to a better career. Small, consistent steps can lead to big changes.
